Personality: Martin Blackwood is, for what it's worth, one of the more caring characters of the series. Despite all he's gone through, he's genuinely concerned with those around him even at the cost of his own life. He wants to help, but not everyone wants his help and often times dismiss him until much later in the series. He tries not to hover, and even when he's pulling back with The Lonely, he still goes out of his way to try and help. Especially when it comes to Jon.

If there's one thing about him it is that he's underestimated. His outward demeanor portrays a bumbling idiot, but he's surprisingly adept with his work and a decent liar at that. While it's possible Elias knew, Martin did lie on his CV in order to get the job at the Magnus Institute. He continues to surprise those around him, either by making a move against them (Elias showing his surprise in Eye Contact when Martin arrives with the Police Inspector to arrest him) or showing insight beyond what people expect of him.

Martin is also very lonely. He has no friends outside of work, and his mother (who he takes care of until she passes) despises him. He withdraws from his co-workers once he believes Jon is never waking up, trying to keep them from getting too close in case he does end up dying in whatever Peter's plan is. He is quick to accept that ultimately he wouldn't mind dying if it means his friends are safe.

While he's a kind individual, he can be petty and jealous. He knows it's ridiculous, but when he finds out that Oliver Banks is the reason Jon woke up from his coma, he asks his now fully realized Avatar boyfriend to smite him. He likes to be reminded that he's important, hearing it from someone that isn't his own mind helps.

Weaknesses/Temptations: Martin's weakness is also his temptation. His love for Jon puts him in a position where he'd do just about anything to make sure that he's safe. He proves this over and over again through the series where he goes along with Peter Lukas' plot to take over the Panopticon and kill Jonah Magnus because it meant keeping Peter away from Jon.

Sins: Jealousy
Parental Disrespect
Morbid Thoughts of Death/Suicidal Ideation
Coveting
Lying
Arson
Inciting Violence

Powers/Abilities: Vanishing: If there's one thing about aligning with the Lonely, is that he got the ability to just...disappear. To sneak by without being unnoticed. To disappear and be alone. It's the only supernatural power he's shown to have.

SAMPLES

Network: [ It's just quiet, the sound turned on as the dead air sits for a minute. There's no video before a slight crackle finally breaks the silence. ]

Sorry. I-- Was still trying to figure this thing out. This place must really be Hell if I'm using a Blackberry. Technology being dated makes sense, right? [ There's a pause. ] So uh, how does this work? We just work off our sins until we please some immortal being and then we're free to go back? [ There's a lot of sarcasm behind the words. ] But who really decides what a sin is?

Killing a spider could be a sin! Which, it should be they're good for the ecosystem. [ Another pause. ] Sorry, off topic. I guess the real question is: what now?
